Die Aufarbeitung eines Mordes im Jahre 1853 im Sinnbergwald bei Bad Brückenau
Der sogenannte „Judenbildstock“ ist eine Rundsäule und befindet sich am Wanderweg des Rhönklubs zwischen Staatsbad Bad Brückenau und Oberleichtersbach. Er trägt die Jahreszahl 1724, was eine Setzung noch vor der Gründung des Bades vermuten lässt. In der Nähe dieses Bildstockes wurde Joseph Frank, Viehhändler aus Schondra am 31. Mai 1853 von dem Wirt Johann Georg Müller aus dem hessischen Teil von Züntersbach ausgeraubt und ermordet. Durch die umfangreichen Dokumente aus dem Staatsarchiv Marburg konnten nicht nur die Profile des Opfers und des Täters erstellt, sowie der Tatablauf rekonstruiert werden, sondern sie zeigen ein umfangreiches Bild des gesellschaftlichen Lebens in der Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts.

„wayside shrine of the Jew“
The so-called „wayside shrine of the Jew“ is a circular column located on the Rhönklub walk between the state spa Bad Brückenau and Oberleichtersbach. It dates back to 1724, long before the spa of Bad Brückenau was founded. Joseph Frank, a livestock trader from Schondra was robbed and murdered on the thirty-first of March 1853 by Johann Georg Müller a landlord from Züntersbach in Hessen. With extensive files from the state archives in Marburg it was possible to reconstruct not only the biography of the victim and the sequence of events but also provide a detailed picture of society at the middle of the nineteenth century.
